American Ceramic Bowl, early 20th century, Rookwood

This Rookwood Pottery Bowl in green/blue glaze dates from the early 1900s.  The beautiful sophisticated glazing and star design on the interior capture the Rookwood aesthetic from the period. Signed on underside of bowl. 

The original Rookwood Company was founded in 1880 and closed in 1967, based near Cincinnati, OH. Rookwood was a very important manufacturer of decorative American pottery.
